PDS Tech Inc Material Handler in Saint Louis, Missouri

Material Handler

Contract to hire – 6 months.

Pay Rate: $17.00 an hour, substantial increase if converted to employee with benefits.

Location: Saint Louis, 63106 (Jefferson Ave.)

3 days of training starting at 9:00 a.m. before moving to the 2:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m shift.

Must have some forklift experience but company will certify.

Summary: Coordinate all movement of product throughout the facility to provide a consistent flow of materials. Responsible for maintaining accurate and real-time computer inventory records concerning the movement of material. This will include resolving physical and computer reconciliations of inventory discrepancies. Position will also maintain and manage inventory to ensure maximum storage capacity; handle emergency material requests; load and unload docks; manage disposal inventory; and act as back up forklift driver for Shipping and Receiving.

Duties: Closely work with Inventory Control supervisor and Shipping/Receiving Supervisor to become experienced in all warehouse responsibilities.

Ensure that all warehouse procedures are followed in all areas according to ISO9001 and safety standards.

Enter, maintain and update computer inventory records so real-time accurate inventory is available.

Manage and maintain inventory in accordance with all housekeeping and stock maintenance guidelines while achieving and maintaining inventory accuracy of 95% or higher.

Work with existing computer system and implement new electronic entry system (bar coding and radio frequency).

Alert supervisors to areas of concern to ensure material does not bottleneck throughout the facility.

Assist with physical warehouse inventory and correct inventory discrepancies.

Responsibilities: Ensure the highest level of commitment to Safe Quality Food (SQF) in order to provide assurance that all products have been produced, prepared and handled according to the highest possible standards.

Education: High school diploma required.

Abilities: Excellent communication (written and verbal) and math skills, forklift. Knowledge of inventory systems, computer knowledge desired. Valid driver’s license required; ability to work overtime any day up to and including Saturday/Sunday as required. Position requires training in Export Trade Regulations in compliance with all applicable regulations.

Experience: Warehouse operations, inventory management, AS400 operation desirable. 3-5 years managing inventory operations and forklift experience required.

Supervision: Material handler lead.

Contacts: This position will have daily contact with all Production and Inventory Management.

Working Conditions: Occasional heavy lifting, occasional movement of barrels.
