Security Dispatcher– (Part-Time)
Responsibilities: Professionally administer all incoming calls to the Zoo and the Ranger Base, ensure external/internal phone calls are redirected to the appropriate party and that internal radio calls are relayed accordingly. Monitor and respond to Forest Park Security and St. Louis Police radio traffic and the National Weather Services radio. Monitor all vehicle traffic entering through the Zoo’s main entrance/exit vehicle gate. Maintain records of all lost and found items. Maintain the Security Department’s overall record-keeping systems, including accident reports and daily watch reports. Assist visitors with general informational queries and perform some clerical support as assigned by the Director of Security, Lieutenant and Sergeants. May be required to monitor security camera footage, as well as the Zoo’s fire, temperature and burglar alarm systems.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. 1-2 years dispatcher or switchboard operator experience required. Minimum of 1 year customer service experience. Excellent phone etiquette and verbal communication skills required. Ability to multi-task. First Aid CPR/AED a plus. Military or Police experience a plus. Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Will be required to work weekends, evenings and holidays. All successful candidates for this position will be required to submit to a criminal background check and a drug test.
