The primary role of the inventory planner is to maintain optimal inventory ownership of finished goods by managing current stock levels to support business demand and supply. This person is tasked with managing stock levels and stocking requirements in conjunction with demand planning. This position is a key driver in ensuring that adequate inventory is available to fulfill customer demand and to collaborate with Supply Planners to help balance demand with supply chain optimization. This person is a hands-on worker who will drive the creation of a finished goods inventory forecast for Class C and D SKUs (Item@Location).
Manage the item replenishment process for all SKUs by determining what to transfer, how much, and when to transfer inventory to support customer orders and forecast
Execute the critical monitoring and communication processes of SKUs that are in short supply
Use JDA to proactively manage active, excess, and obsolete inventory
Maintain appropriate inventory levels at Bunzl Warehouses
Manage communication with Warehouses and Branches for critical customer orders and inventories
Monitor products that need critical monitoring when inventory falls below safety stock levels; investigate the status of inventory in JDA
Collaborate with both the Supply Planner and the Bunzl Warehouse dock management team to manage receipt of critical inventory
Use data insights to establish critical system parameters (ABC and Safety Stock settings, new product launch quantity, etc.).
Data gathering and quantitative and qualitative data analysis, including business process metrics and measures linking to business KPIs
Translate business goals and metrics into business process outcomes and related business cases for specific projects.
Focus on both short-term results and long-term goals
Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required
2-5 year's relevant work experience preferred
Interested in business results and in group achievements
Meet deadlines and works under pressure with limited supervision
Well-organized with a high level of attention to detail
Strong analytical and conceptual skills
Communicate effectively with counterparts in demand planning and supply management
Leader in collaboration between demand and supply that will effectively link the needs of both parties and arrive at best practice and continuous alignment
Build excellent relationships with key internal and external personnel based on trust and confidence
High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
Influential and charismatic, especially with decision makers and other teams
Hands-on experience with modeling, analysis and simulation tools preferred
Information seeking/data gathering a plus
Mathematical skills a must
Some travel may be required
